Jimin of BTS has once again made headlines for his true icon of national prestige, which contributed to the globalization of Korea's unique culture.
The famous hanbok designer Yi-seul Hwang, who is known to have designed Jimin's fan dance performance costume at the 2018 Melon Music Awards, unveiled the behind-the-scenes story on the YouTube channel of "Idol Chart."
In the interview video, Yi-seul Hwang cited Jimin as an idol who contributed to promoting Hanbok and Leslie, a living hanbok brand she represents, to the world and said, "He gave me honor."
She then introduced an anecdote introduced to the New York Times, a global media outlet, as an anecdote that proves her and Hanbok's heightened global reputation.
Last year, the New York Times said, "Designer Yi-seul Hwang designed Hanbok worn by BTS Jimin," adding that Hanbok has been receiving explosive responses along with the popularity of K-pop, and that Jimin played a major role in the globalization of Korea's unique culture.
Jimin was also credited with promoting the aesthetic value of hanbok to the world in 2019 by decorating the weekly Korean policy information magazine Weekly Empathy (No. 496), published by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under the title of "BTS Jimin's Hanbok, Like Jeans to the World."
