JYP Entertainment's Japanese girl group NiziU's new song "Take a Picture" set the highest number of plays in the first week of its release on the Oricon chart.
According to the latest weekly streaming chart released by Oricon on the 7th aggregated from March 29 to April 4, "Take a picture" was played 12.51 million times in the first week of its release, ranking first in history by number of times.
The song is one of the double titles of NiziU's second single "Take a Picture / Poppin Shaking," which was pre-released on the 29th of last month.
It is a song that maximizes the fresh energy of the nine members, and features gestures that take pictures according to the sound of the camera shutter and group dance that changes in size.
NiziU's debut single "Step and a Step" released in December last year also surpassed 10 million plays in the first week of its release. NiziU is the first group to have more than two songs that have been played more than 10 million times a week.
NiziU is a Japanese girl group formed by JYP's audition program "Nizi Project" with Japan's Sony Music. They made their debut after receiving K-pop style training at JYP, and is gaining unprecedented popularity in Japan as a rookie group.
Their new single "Take a Picture / Poppin Shaking" will be officially released on July 7.
